Zuess placed
VP12,
(i had to run 20 laps again, and my heart was pushed up in my brain by then ), VP
12 in a group of 25 pups in the USA Club Nationals. In that group, his handler, really didn't agree with any of
it. I believe it was because he 'was tall and lanky then and with the Wienerau boys that's they way they
grow up first, then out. (see his 16 month old pic above)His handler said we should have washed him and fluffed up his hair. I was
cracking up inside. just to score higher fluff his hair up so he would look wider ha ha ha...
I did see several people wash their pups OUTSIDE right before the show
fluffing up their pups, but can't imagine me doing that.. uh uh... His looks
are regal, his ears told you that he'd grow up to be a great
boy, just like his ancestors, not to mention his intelligence, therefore his workability ;-)
The funniest thing was that 24 out of 25 pups were panting like crazy after having to run around the
ring a b-zillion times, except ZEUSS. He just stood there looking around with
his mouth shut checking it all out after All THOSE ROUNDS, posing perfectly
and NOT barking at everything which was amazing to me... (too) Again, my
pups live at 6400 feet, and do nothing but play with other dogs, no kennels.
This is what a working dog is made of indeed. Such stamina already at 5
months! Next year in 2004, if I decide to do this again, he'll be 23 months and quite grown up. Someone else is to do the running like a
chicken without a head around the ring though.... I need my heart after all, to keep
living .... at a regular pace...
The pups he was up against were all from good kennels, but they primarily care about the looks of the
dogs, (i saw a few up for sale who scored higher than Zuess) and how high do they score. The health and happiness of my critters come first, of course.
Always....
